What is the Kupuna Digital Literacy Program?
WEDG’s Kūpuna Digital Literacy Program helps Oʻahu adults age 50 and older build confidence using technology. Through our partnership with Senior Planet, we offer beginner-friendly digital skills training, including a one-hour orientation and a full series of related workshops, lectures, and classes.
Who can participate?
Our Senior Planet training is for adults age 50 and older on Oʻahu. Beginners are welcome, and no prior computer experience is required.
Do I need prior computer experience?
No experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome.
Is this program only for seniors?
You do not need to consider yourself a senior to participate. WEDG’s Senior Planet training welcomes adults age 50 and older who want to strengthen their digital skills.
What will I learn?

Yes. Participants may receive support from instructors and trained digital mentors during class sessions.
Will there be teen mentors helping kupuna?
Some sessions may include youth digital mentors who assist participants in a respectful, supportive learning environment.
How long is the training?
Training length varies by offering. Orientations are brief introductions, while courses and workshop series meet over multiple sessions. Check the registration form for each offering’s session length and attendance requirements.
How often are classes held?
Class schedules vary by course and host location. The registration form lists the available dates and times so you can choose an offering that fits your schedule.
Is there a fee to attend?
Our goal is to keep the program low-cost or free whenever funding allows.
Do I need my own computer?
No. Devices will be provided during training depending on the session.
Will I receive a Chromebook or device?
Some WEDG-funded training opportunities may provide eligible participants with a device upon successful completion, subject to funding, availability, and program requirements. Device awards are arranged separately by WEDG and are not a standard benefit of Senior Planet training.
What if I don’t have internet at home?
We can provide guidance on affordable internet programs and connectivity options.
How do I register?

How many spaces are available?

I’m nervous about technology. Is this training for me?

What if I learn slowly?
That’s perfectly fine. We teach at a comfortable pace, offer plenty of one-on-one assistance, and encourage questions.
